Health Educators: Working for Wellness

Health Educators are professionals who work to promote, maintain and improve wellness and healthy lifestyles among the communities they serve. They are multi-faceted individuals who use a variety of tools and strategies in educating and protecting the public. According to the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, there are seven primary responsibilities that health educators perform:

I. Assess Individual and Community Needs for Health Education
II. Plan Health Education Strategies, Interventions, and Programs
III. Implement Health Education Strategies, Interventions, and Programs
IV. Conduct Evaluation and Research Related to Health Education
V. Administer Health Education Strategies, Interventions, and Programs
VI. Serve as a Health Education Resource Person
VII. Communicate and Advocate for Health and Health Education

 

Health Education Division at DHD2

The Health Education Division is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating education programs related to health throughout the District 2 service area. Each staff member performs services in one or more of the following areas:

Tobacco Control/ Smoke-Free Policy

Youth Tobacco Regulation

Drug Free Communities Support Program

Pandemic Planning/ Emergency Preparedness/ Bioterrorism

CPR,  Bloodborne Pathogen & Occupational Safety Training

Health Information and Referrals
