CHOICES Coalition
District Health Department No. 2, in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Cardiovascular Health, Nutrition, and Physical Activity Section, worked during the Spring/Summer of 2015 on the Building Healthy Communities Project in Ogemaw County. Building Healthy Communities is a multi-faceted approach to assessing areas of Ogemaw County on a variety of topics including nutrition, smoke-free policies, healthy communities, active communities, healthy worksites, and many others. The final phase of the project was to create a three-year strategic plan based on assessment findings and coalition input to help create a healthier Ogemaw County.
The CHOICES Coalition, a group of community members and stakeholders, provides insight and guidance for the project as well as the completion of the community assessments. This Coalition will be an instrumental factor in addressing the gaps and needs identified by the assessments, as well as helping to identify the best strategies and steps to address those gaps and needs.
